Kenyatta Leal

Please welcome to the Alliance for CHANGE Board of Directors Mr. Kenyatta Leal! Kenyatta spent nearly 19 years incarcerated within the California prison system for possession of a firearm under California’s Three Strike Law. Throughout his incarceration Kenyatta spent his time preparing for his future academically, vocationally, and spiritually. In 2010 Kenyatta
earned his Associate of Arts Degree and graduated as Class Valedictorian with a 3.95 GPA. Kenyatta has been a champion of prisoner health education and spent a great deal of his incarceration at San Quentin employed by Centerforce as a Peer Health Educator. In that role Kenyatta facilitated HIV and Hepatitis Prevention classes for thousands of his peers. While at San Quentin, Kenyatta also became a founding member of The Last Mile, the world’s first prison based software development training program. He is currently employed in sales at RocketSpace, a technology campus based in San Francisco, and actively promotes fair chance hiring for formerly incarcerated within the technology sector. In addition to the Alliance, Kenyatta currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Last Mile.
